There is one big misconception about the Texas and A&M scenario

The over-whelming majority of Texas fans, and the university bigwigs, want A&M to go their own way. It is the politicians who want to keep 'everyone' together in an attempt to appease the Tech and Baylor camps.
Playing A&M during the BCS era has been devastating for Texas. In 2008, we went in to the Aggie game as the #2 team in the nation. We trashed the Aggies 49-9 on national TV but the BCS ranking of the Aggies sucked so bad that it dropped Texas to #3 and out of the national title picture. The same thing would have happened in 2005 and Texas would have been robbed of their national title season but Michigan scored a very late TD to beat Penn State, otherwise PSU would have leap-frogged Texas. Texas beat A&M in College Station that year but the Aggies low BCS ranking would have again been a poison pill.
As long as Texas and A&M are in the same conference, that will always be the last regular season game for Texas. Texas desperately needs out of this situation so we can finish the season against a solid opponent to have a chance in the BCS rankings.
Keep saying that Texas is afraid of the SEC and whatever else makes you feel good. Deep down, you guys know Texas has a damn good program and can play with anyone. You also know that any conference with Texas, OU and USC is pretty damn hard to win.
The really funny thing about all of this will be watching the Aggies.......the Aggies will most certainly struggle in the SEC and the fact that they won't be able to finish each year with the chance to redeem their season by playing Texas will make it all the more painful for A&M.

Which is exactly why it is so sad that they want to go to such a weak arse conference. Sorry, but there is no other way to spin this, than that UT doesn't want to have to compete.

Good to know you're on board for a&m to the SEC too!

My preferences would be:
1. Big 10 (most $ and CIC)
2. Independence
3. SEC
4. Pac 10
.....however, if if the current rumors hold fast and this gets A&M & Texas in different conferences and we don't have to play and/or end our season against a BCS killer like the Aggies than I am all for it.
The UT administration has always had a hard on for the Pac 10, it goes back to when the SWC blew up and everyone but Stanford voted to accept Texas.

It can't happen soon enough. Wait until LSU is #2 in the country, travels to College Station to end the season, wins by 20, and falls to #3 in the BCS......then you will understand.

I seem to remember LSU losing at home the last week of the season to a mediocre team and still getting in because they play in a better conference

You really think over the long run ending with Texas a&M is worse than possibly ending up with Arizona, Arizona st, colorado, or texas tech.. Seriously

Nobody said UT can't compete in the SEC.
We said you're a bunch of spoiled, elitist pussies who don't want to get grass stains on your khaki pants, so you're going to play croquet with the hippies out west instead of playing mother fricking FOOTBALL with the big boys.
No one is mad at UT for being pussies. We're just calling you what you are.

The current buzz is that the Red River Rivalry would be moved to Thanksgiving. This would be incredible and would provide a very meaningful win in the eyes of the BCS voters.

Also helped that OU went and skulldrug Texas Tech who was undefeated at the time. The polls screwed you guys just as much as the computers.

How about I wait 'til they're #1, lose to Arky in the last regular season game, and go on to win the NC?
This ain't the SWC/B12/P10, pal...
...it's the SEC.

Didn't A&M beat Texas 2 years in a row recently? Seems like you had a couple of close calls after that. Typical Texass arrogance again.

Are you so naive you believe they would gotten the invite without a lousy Pitt team upsetting WV?

Do they plan on moving the state fair date.. They worked well together to provide a weekend of entertainment even with the games location change? I will say if the game is moved to that date then it's great, sets up a ohio st vs Michigan situation.
