I can see them now going to Oregon and Washington, and wishing they could play in Baton Rouge or, play LSU,ALA,etc, in Reliant Stadium

Seattle is a great road trip, many LSU fans know this by now. The PAC10 west coast teams are located in some pretty awesome areas, sans the Palouse.

From what I understand, these road trips will be few and far between anyway

cause the city would make up for the game day atmosphere?

maybe so - enjoy the art museums and the planetarium

maybe for football, but when you factor in all sports, men's and women's, that will be some SERIOUS frequent flyer miles

been to los angeles, seattle, and phoenix

I like the cities, but on a weekend where I'm going for a football game I'm there to tailgate on saturday and probably have to head back on sunday

For a thousand mile trip you are going to be there for basically a day? You are missing out on the point of making a road trip. Those cities offer far more than a couple of museums. The recreational opportunities alone on the west coast blow anything east of the rockies away.

you do realize that most people have jobs/school monday-friday, which only leaves a 2 day weekend. one day for football and the other for a hangover and a flight home.

so you're planning half of your year's vacation around a road trip there? Going for a week or something?

To me the awesome thing is about a college weekend roadtrip is how packed it is - head there friday night, party all saturday and then return

I've done the whale watching in santa barbara, hiking in yosemite, soaking up atmosphere in san fran, and seen teh awesome mount saint helens park - but that's not what I want to see on a college gameday weekend - it's about LSU for me on a gameday weekend

One of the local news stations here discussed that distance when talking about expansion on the evening news yesterday.

For Nebraska a road trip to play Penn State in Happy Valley is like 923 miles one way. For Texas to go play a road game at U of Washington is something like 1700 miles one way.
