Would the SEC ask them to join?

just because a school is located in a market doesn't mean adding them would add that market

TCU doesn't have enough of a following. They're 4th at best in the state of Texas behind Texas, ATM, and Tech.

TCU has little community support and 0 national following.

TCU plays very good ball and still has only avg 38K in their 48K stadium.

A SOLID program...will be interesting to see where they land, if they take-off.

TCU - absolutely if TA&M declines. Remember, it's not where you've been, but what potential you have to offer. Being in the SEC would immediately give their program a boost, get our games into the Dallas-FW market, and over the long run be a win-win.

This is business, it ain't personal.

I'd be willing to bet attendance goes up this year.

FWIW - TCU was in the Top 20 for baseball attendance this year.

Just in case anybody is curious about TCU's other sports teams...

Consistent Top 25 finishes in:
Baseball
Men's & Women's Golf
Men's & Women's Tennis
Men's Swimming

Also:
Strong Women's Basketball Program as well.
Strong Sprinters in Track&Field (but not necessarily the whole team)

This probably falls into that "sports nobody cares about" category, but TCU was NCAA Rifle Champion this year as well.

Nobody watches these events, there's no value from a T.V. business standpoint..

Well then I suppose that argument about how many they put in the stands for a football game doesn't matter, does it?

TCU's televised football ratings are very good.

I would be all over TCU joining the SEC if I was Mike Slive. We don't need to pander to other schools based upon their name/history, we need footholes into other markets and the SEC sells itself as the programs interact with the other athletic powerhouses.

I'd rather TCU over aTm, to be honest.
