I can buy that. But the article infers that TCU turned DOWN The SEC in favor of the Big 12. Thats a little misleading. The overall point that TCU will fare better in the Big 12 is definitely on target. But the writer feeling the need to even mention the SEC and take shots at the SEC is a little petty.

Engel is a hack of a journalist that is not liked in the TCU community at all. Don't let his stupidity and sensationalist reporting reflect poorly on us.

Baylor basketball is one of the dirtiest programs in the NCAA.

In a related question, just how many programs in NCAA history have covered up a homicide?

Just the holier-than-thou bunch down in Waco, right?

but the SEC will be sorely disappointed in the viewership that A&M will bring in DFW.

I get what you're saying....DFW has more Sooners, Raiders and Horns than Aggies.

But A&M haters in DFW will tune in to see A&M "get its a** kicked" against LSU, UF, Bama, Auburn, and any other team that our Big 12 friends will be chomping at the bit to see us play (and in their minds, lose to).

Everyone likes watching teams they hate play on TV hoping that they'll lose. Its part of the fun.

The idea that everyone in Texas will just forget about A&M since they are in the SEC is laughable. In reality, it will add to the interest level, whether you love us or hate us.

I just can't accept the concept of inviting TCU. What would the SEC possibly gain by adding TCU other than a possible number 14 placeholder?

With Mizzou they supposedly bring tv sets with them and another region of the country. TCU brings a good football and baseball program but this doesn't bring potential $'s to the conference.

And I think you'd also agree that outside of TCU students/alums, average Joe doesn't watch TCU over Big 12 and SEC games.

Joining the Big 12 will change that.....somewhat....but you would not bring THAT much more to SEC viewership in Texas.

This also works out for me because the likelihood of me having to choose between TCU and LSU in a game is much less (except for OOC in a few years).

Man we have to get together for these upcoming games, assuming they are still on the schedules. I think I will be routing for the underdog in both games.

For sure man. We'll have to meet one of these days.

And I think I'm probably going to have to root for the team that a loss hurts the least. If both are undefeated, that is obviously LSU so I'd want TCU to win. If only one is undefeated, I'll have have to root for them to win since a second loss isn't as detrimental as a first loss is to a team's title hopes.

That was probably a convoluted way to say that... Basically if TCU has a loss and LSU doesn't, I'll root for LSU, and vice versa. If both have multiple losses, I'll root for TCU because a win against LSU raises program perception without harming LSU. Hopefully the game is early in the season to keep things more simple.

you think?

I had not even thought of rooting for one or the other based on bowl potential.

The wife wants to have one of those split shirts made for the game, but I just cant do it.

Well, that was only after we got snubbed by Montana Tech and North Carolina A&T.

TCU made a good move going to the Big12 instead of SEC

That's like saying NASA made a good move sending people to the moon instead of Alpha Centauri. The SEC was never an option for TCU.

Is anyone here going to deny the big money under the table line? Many of your athletes get paid under the table

To the extent that it is implied that this is a regular, common occurrence in the SEC, hell yes I will deny it. I don't doubt that it has happened from time to time in the SEC, like it has in every other conference that exists, but to imply that it's a normal and SEC-specific thing is just ridiculous.
