that's a money losing proposal (when 8 is a perfectly good option)
well if we go to 16 teams, then you would need to play 7 in your division. An unless you are gonna go 8 years without playing the same team in the other division, you'd have to play nine conference games.
If we only go to 14, then 8 conference games is fine.

it's longer than that assuming you end up with home and away series
but that's a fundamental problem with the larger conferences - you end up rarely if ever playing schools from the opposite division
wouldn't be as bad with 14 as 16 tho
