If we are to assume that the ACC teams are off the table (very likely)....then Mizzou, by default, is the best choice for 14.

WVU is the only other school even in the non-ACC discussion.

The only way Virginia Tech would go to the SEC is if Virginia leaves the ACC. Not out of the realm of possibility (a Maryland-UVA move to the Big Ten would make Penn State very happy, and would be a really smart move for the Big Ten), but not likely to happen this year. If the SEC wants Missouri, it's now (within the next month) or never.

What's great about Missouri is the fact that you could put them in the East, with Arkansas as their cross over opponent, this go around, and move them West if you need to if, and when the confernce goes to 16 (which I don't see happening unless the ACC falls apart, with something like the Maryland/UVA scenario mentioned above). Given the concerns about maintaining the current divisional splits, and keeping in mind that 16 is a possibility in the future, tell me who out west you would rather have as a stand alone addition rather than Missouri?

Makes the most sense to put Mizzou in the Western Division. Then move the gumps and barners east and Vandy west. That would preserve the sacred SPUAT-UTK, Auburn-UGA, and Iron Bowl rivalries without requiring permanent opponents.

It would suck for LSU. Our division rivals would be Mizzou, A&M, Arky, Vandy, Ole Miss, and State. But Slive would suck Mal Moore's dick if Mal would let him.

Geographically, culturally, and historically-speaking, Mizzou should look north to the Big10. I'd rather see a southern east coast team (VTech, GTech, Clemson, FSU, etc) get the SEC#14 spot.
