A program with money, fans, facilities, and recruits will nearly always find a way to the top. Sometimes it just needs a good kick in the arse. Usually that is done by a new coach. To aTm, SEC membership and taking the little brother handcuffs off is that kick in the arse they need.

We've been having this same discussion for years: "When the right coach comes along, A&M will blow up."
Sherman might be the guy, and if he is, the Aggies will be good irrespective of conference affiliation. They have that potential. But joining the SEC alone won't make it happen.

not when they have to go through 4 teams that have the same thing and more talent.
Spurrier brought in an offense never seen before to make Florida a powerhouse. i dont see A&M renovating how college football offenses work anytime soon
LSU is a traditional powerhouse... they are #14 in all time winning percentage. I dont know where u get this idea that we weren't relevant until saban.

I'm not gonna argue this anymore. the world could end by the time A&M is relevant.
i will put $1,000 cash straight up that they will not win the SEC within 6 years with anyone that wants to bet

I never said that LSU was not relevant, but LSU before the 2000's was absolutely not a national powerhouse. I would think even the biggest LSU homer could admit that. LSU in the 90's reminds me a lot of aTm in the 2000's. Everything they needed to win, but the wins were not coming.

aTm will eventually have talent relatively on par with the SEC Big 6. These things are cyclical. Eventually it will be their turn for luck to go their way and they will win the SEC.

tell that to Arkansas, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Moo State, Kentucky, Vandy

The mere presence of the SEC in Texas will cause UT and OU to cower like little girls. College Station will become a sparkling oasis, and Aggies will suddenly become as hip as your average Austinite.

You just missed the entire point. You talk about A&M like they didnt exist before Fran got there. The LSU/Saban is to illustrate that down periods happen, but big time programs with intangibles like A&M and LSU only require the right leadership. No one is saying LSU wasnt a program before Saban. We are saying LSU was a program in very bad down period finally got the right coach is now a national power.
Are you trying to tell me A&M cant talent? Our roster is littered with guys who will be in the league. I think you will look foolish in a few years.

sherman is a damn good football coach. he's not flashy or a good speaker but he can evaluate talent and he can coach. now that he has a good staff, esp def. co-ord. and a better class of players he's getting the respect from the hi-school coaches that he needs to keep it going upward. their recruiting is improving A LOT. i think they'll be competitive sooner than you think. it'll take a little while to get the depth they need to compete in the sec because of the number of brutal games we play but they will.

Dude, do you honestly not see the very OBVIOUS difference between A&M and those programs or are you really this dense?

ok i'll go with you here.
I agree, if Texas A&M can lock up the Texas border in recruiting they will win an SEC title in 6 years or so

Im not sure what locking up the borders of Texas means, because thats like saying no talented prospects can leave the state of Florida for the gators to be competitive. Texas is huge and loaded with talent.
All A&M has to do is recruit at the level we are currently at to become talented enough for the SEC.

I'm glad you point out the similarity between Florida and Texas
Florida = Texas
A&M = Florida State
TCU = Miami

If this is how you act as a 24 year old that is sad. No way you ever attended a class at LSU

Gosh there is no helping you. None of those teams can recruit talent on the level that aTm can/will.

we're going to the SEC to go 'national'
brand ourselves nationally, recruit nationally, compete nationally - anybody, anytime, any place
we want National Championships
funny some have compared us to LSU and Florida. The right situation, and the school was ready to reap benefits, which they did. A&M is in that moment in time. Our football championship was in 1939, and just like LSU who only had one in 1958, A&M is firmly committed to the same game plan as LSU. Now LSU has two more in the last 10 years, and I see A&M getting one in 5-10 years. Heck we have a chance this year to play in it.

So you think a team that couldn't win the Big 12 is going to come to the SEC and dominate????
