To he'll with these old rivalries. OU quit playing Nebraska and the world didn't end.

The world didn't end, but the loss of that rivalry reduced cohesion in the Big 12 and look at the final result. The two are not even in the same conference anymore.

If you just want the highest level of play among the teams, go to the NFL. College football, especially about the SEC is about rivalries, tradition, history and passionate fanbases.

I dislike Bama and Tenn, but I would be very upset to see that rivalry end, b/c it is one of the things that makes the SEC.

Who cares about that? I don't remember the rivalry when the teams always played each other, but I don't think it's the same situation.

Nebraska-OU was a very important game because the rest of the Big 8 was irrelevant. I don't remember how much opposition there was to ending the rivalry, but that series ending shouldn't mean Tennessee has to give up their biggest rivalry game.

Without Alabama, we really don't have a true college football rival. Florida is a stretch, IMO. Of course Vols fans don't want to give that game up.

Only TN and AL really care about that game. In the last 35 yrs, both schools were ranked at game time only 11 times. If you take out a six yr period in the nineties, it's 6 times in 29 yrs. As I've said before, it's the most insignificant significant game there is.

The conference is getting too big for these permanent cross div rivalries. I'm at the point where if you guys (AU, AL, GA, and TN) value these games so much, then you all need to be in the same div and live with the consequences.

Permanent cross divison games are gone, it wont work once we go to 16 team conferences. Otherwise, it would take decades to play every school from the other divison.

So what. It doesn't matter if LSU thinks it's important. What matters is that Tennessee and Alabama think it's important.

It matters when you want to screw up conference cohesion with that silly game. As I said before, the conference is getting too big for these permanent cross div rivalries. If you want this game so much, then you all need to be in the same div and you can play without screwing things up.

Sounds like the desire to add 2nd rate programs is what is screwing up conference cohesion.
