NCAA requires divisions for a CCG. Should the SEC petition this?

Especially if the conference goes to 13 and stays there, wouldn't it be better to have no divisions than to have uneven divisions? Six permanent rivals, top two go to Atlanta.

Would the NCAA allow this? I suspect that they would. Seems to be a rather arbitrary rule.

SEC could always ask I presume. We could hope that they grant a 1 or 2 year waiver with the promise the SEC adds a 14th team within a certain timeframe.

I'd rather stay no divisions even with 14. I'd rather have no divisions now.

I guarantee that the SEC has this all worked out already.

I'd like to offer the SEC's 14th spot to ASU. I don't care about geography but they will bring talent and balance to the SEC.

But they have divisions.

And some of their teams play more conference games than others. I hate situations like that, and where some conference games don't count as conference games, and where some OOC games do count as conference games. Eliminating divisions eliminates a lot of potential gayness.

And so would the SEC right?

The point of this thread is that the SEC should petition to NOT have divisions with only 13 teams.

The NCAA requires divisions for conference championship games. XIV thinks the SEC should petition this and do rotating schedules with top 2 meeting in ATL. I like that idea, even though I think the likelihood it happens is low.

You said the MAC has a conference championship game. This is correct, but they also have divisions which defeats the purpose of this thread. As XIV showed earlier, uneven divisions lead to weird formats:
