Good stuff Pisces. I don't forsee that happenng either and growing up in BR it would be a shame not to play a lt of the central teams you have in the sec like Ole Mrs, and Bama and Auburn, Still impressive though.

I would rather put Texas in the Pac 10...make it more fair.

In a 12 game schedule, LSU would play its 5 inner-division rivals and then play 2 of each in the other divisions:
so it would be like...
at Texas A&M
UL - Lafayette
McNeese
Oklahoma
at Georgia
Auburn
Kentucky
at Southern Miss
Tulane (HC)
at Ole Miss
Texas
Arkansas
Now how bad arse would that be? No need for tough OOC scheduling. We could do in-state schools. That is the beauty.

I moved Texas to the Pac 10 and did a bit more rearranging. The SEC west isn't quite as crazily scary now.
As I have said, this won't happen, but it's sort of a satire on what the NCAA would really love to do...3-4 super conferences and et the trash fall in where it may.

Well, we don't have to worry about any of this anymore but I think the SEC, had it expanded, would have done good to get FSU, A&m, and maybe Louisville.

Here would be my idea of a BCS playoff...take the top of each conference with the weakest of the 9 having a play-in game (to make it 8)...so something like this (and I am just picking potential winners of each conference...not necessarily best team):
PAC 18 winner - Texas
Mountain and Metro 16 - Oklahoma State
D.S.S.E - Alabama
G.A.C - Miami
League of the Carolinas - UNC
The Big Belt - Nebraska
Deep South - Florida Atlantic * (8th seed)
MAC - Cent Michigan
Ocean Pacific - Hawaii * (9th seed)
so...
week after conf c'ships
Dec 13 Hawaii vs. Florida Atlantic (at Pontiac, MI)
And hypothetical top 8 seeds:
Dec 20 1. Alabama vs. 8/9 Florida ATL or Hawaii (at Birmingham, AL)
Dec 20 4. UNC vs. 5 Nebraska (at Charlotte, NC)
Dec 20 3. Miami vs. 6 Oklahoma State (at Tampa, FL)
DEec 202. Texas vs. 7. Central Michigan (at Irving, TX)
Jan 3 Ala/Hawaii winner vs. UNC/Nebraska winner (at Pasadena, CA)
Jan 3 Miami/OSU winner vs. Texas/Cent Michigan winner (at Tempe, AZ)
Jan 10th C'ship game (at New Orleans, LA)
This is still not a picture perfect layoff because it leaves so many good teams out, but the bowl system can still be played as normal. All of the BCS bowls can still have at-large teams and can play in the same spots on New Years Day.
This system I have created is far from perfect, but with 9 conferences and 9 c'ship games, it ensures that there will be 9 winners who have the right to compete for the BCS c'ship. The games above make 3 extra games, so make the season start the last weekend in August and go back to 11 games. Also, the normal BCS bowls and even all bowls will still be played by the at-large teams and there wil still be some elite 1-2 loss teams playing in the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Cotton, Orange, etc. and play for the same money and bragging rights, etc.
It's hard to see this as fathomable or perhaps we should ask, "Why not the top 8-9 teams based on rpi? Why let Florida ATL play in a conference tourney when a team like LSU or Ohio State deserves it more. I guess the only answer is that football, like any other sport, should allow for any team who wins its conference to compete for a BCS c'ship.
My system is majorly flawd...just done for experimental/what if? reasons.

And for LSU, their schedule would be composed of all teams from the west, 2 from central, and 2 from east. Rotation would be done evry 2 seasons after a home and home is done with central and east teams.
