for Texas A&M and Virginia Tech.

1) Purely as a fan, I would love to add the traditions of both schools to our fold. The fans are passionate, loyal, and football savvy. The environments are top notch.

2) Business wise, they expand the SEC Brand into two new states and their TV markets. The addition of more potential viewers will bring an even stronger hand at the negotiation table for the next TV contract. We're sitting on 3 Billion dollars in contracts now, that would only get better.

3) I'd like to balance any additions to the conference, so traditional match-ups won't have to be sacrificed by bumping a west team into the east. A&M and VT could be paired off as permanent opponents, which surprisingly is an excellent idea, for reason #4

4) Think of this, both schools have a corp of cadets and they play a large part in their football atmosphere. The pageantry surrounding a meeting between these programs could become our conferences version of the Army-Navy game. The cannon fire for touchdowns, the hat throwing, the uniforms, it could be an incredible show every year...and really add another layer in the SEC.

What does VT bring to the table?

I'm all for TAMU; to hell with UT; rather see GT than VT.

We gain absolutely nothing by bringing in GT. UGA has the Georgia market covered.

You support GT and wonder what VT brings to the table?

1) We already have the Atlanta television markets wrapped up. Adding anyone from a state we already have a presence in is counterproductive from the business standpoint.

2) Virginia Tech is a fairly consistent BCS contender. Strengthening the brand.

Everything you listed is spot on, but A&M and Texas are a package. Texas wants nothing to do with the SEC. That being said A&M probably wants to get out of the Texas shadow but there is so much politics involved I don't see it happening. IMHO

I think all the Aggies want it to happen. They can play UT out of conference every year. No big deal. I would love to see TAMU grow and UT and USC get beat down regularly by UCLA.

Not the ones in Dallas I know. They want wherever UT goes. If SEC expands, A&M is a remote option. UT won't happen.

I'd like to see TAMU get away from UT. I've been reading so much crap on this it makes my head spin. One thing I saw was that Slive contacted A&M in April regarding the SEC. Whether that's true or not..... don't know. I suppose we're all waiting on Nebraska to get their Big 11 invite - then the Pac-10 invites the 5 from the Big XII south. UT certainly doesn't want to be viewed as the one who broke the Big XII up. The SEC would be fine the way it is as I think every conference in envious of the SEC. If expansion is an answer, don't frick it up Slive. We know you want to do what's best for Bama
