Not if 3 - 4 other conferences go to 16 top notch teams

i don't see why you people think "superconferences" are going to be so powerful

the big10 and pac10 just went to 12, which made the big12 go down to 10 teams

the ACC has struggled mightily with its 12 teams

The Big 12 isn't much right now - much less if Pac 12 Big 10 and SEC all go to 16 teams.

the pac12 is FOUR teams away from 16, and they struggled to get to 12 last year

9 teams is more than feasible for a big conference. It allows 8 conference games and everyone plays the full conference each year, while maintaining 4 OOC games that can be big money for them. Yes, there's no title game, but the value of the Conference championship games are highly overrated.

all of this 16-team superconference talk/fearmongering makes me laugh

nobody is CLOSE to that, yet

we've seen 1 conference utterly fail after expansion (ACC). and that was just 12 teams

when 2 conferences expanded to 12 teams this past year, 1 contracted to 10

there is a BCS conference with 8 teams currently. EIGHT

I know that the A&M fans on here believe that they are definitely joining the SEC. I'm still not convinced. I'm still thinking that the Big 12 will make a last minute proposal to A&M and they will stay, kind of like they did last year.

i think UT wants them gone if it means TAMU will stop bitching

UT/OU can get a team like Houston in, who will demand less money than TAMU. more money for UT/OU

That's my point. The argument could easily be made that even at 9 teams, the Big 12 and the Big East would be the only conferences to have all conference teams face one another every year. This is a much fairer and effective way for determining a deserving champion than the conference championship game.

They could do that without A&M leaving. After last year, I just am not convinced that A&M's leaving. I guess we'll know something for sure very soon.
