This. Frick them and frick any notion of helping them...unless it means huge and I mean lots of extra money for the league and thus UF. If not, they can rot in the All Cupcake Conference.

Conventional wisdom by any number of sources is that South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida have banded together to block the addition of in-state rivals from any of the tree states. IF all three vote as a bloc, than it only takes one other school voting with them to block any team.

I can under stand USCe's position the best. Clemson doesn't bring enough to the table to merit diluting the talent in a small state.

UGA is also easy to understand. Unless the SEC is out to improve it's academics, Ga. Tech isn't worth bringing in.

Florida's position in being against FSU is unsupportable IMO. Gator fans say they don't want to do any favors for the Noles. Well guess what? The Noles have shown they don't need any favors.

FSU beat the top two teams in the SEC east last year. And beat both of them bad. If the object by UF is to keep FSU from becoming a threat, then the Gators are too late.

IF UF succeeds in blocking FSU from joining, then they better be able to beat them on the field. And right now, I don't think the Gators can.

Just saying.

Actually, they do need favors. They don't make that much money. And they're 22nd in the NCAA for merchandise sales. They will get a lot of money if they join the SEC.

How is FSU being in the SEC a fear of UF? FSU will get a chance to beat us every year in every sport regardless of whether they are in the SEC or ACC. ACC football is overall weaker than SEC football. If their team is good this year and they beat OU, they're set up for the BCS Championship Game. Being in the SEC wouldn't make FSU more of a threat as they are now.

It's a financial and prestige issue mostly. UF's athletic department is already making a lot of money through ticket sales, SEC TV deal, merchandise, and alumni contributions. FSU's our rival so any chance to help them without getting a large return isn't favorable. I understand why FSU's appealing to other SEC fans because there's a certain draw of a revitalized FSU. But if adding FSU to the SEC doesn't help UF more than than it helps FSU, why would UF want it?

Because losing to FSU OOC hurts the conference image. If FSU becomes a member of the conference, the SEC, including Florida, will make money off the Noles going to bowl games, March Madness, and the CWS.

The Noles may not make money, but they have undeniable athletic success in the big three sports.

Machen has to vote with what is most beneficial to UF first.I would guess Slive would have to have some pretty convincing numbers.

BTW, what undeniable success have they had in basketball, they rarely make the tournament?

A 9 point loss without our best player and a hungover QB is not exactly beating us "bad"

Sadly, in comparison to most of the SEC schools, the Noles look pretty good in basketball.

I don't like excuses, even when they are valid. It was a two-score loss to an ACC team. More is expected of you when you are the SEC runner-up.

IF FSU had been in the SEC east last year, they would have been a prime contender for Atlanta. And the same holds true for this year.

That being said, I now believe FSU will never, ever be seriously considered for SEC membership.

We've all heard about the so-called "Gentlemen's Agreement" involving Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia. Some are saying Kentucky is a member as well, in order to block Louisville.

If that's true, plus reports that both Alabama and Auburn would also vote to block FSU, then I think we can safely forget about ever seeing Florida State in this conference.

and our hungover QB threw 3 INTS and had 1 fumble in the first half... that's 1 less turnover than the number of girls he had in his room the night before the game. if we had a sober virgin like Tebow, we would have beat them like a drum.

I get it. And I'm with you, but all that being said, FSU is getting a lot more respect than any other SEC east team, and most of the west as well.

But as I said, I don't think anyone has to worry about either the Noles or the Clemson Tigers in the conference in our lifetimes.

The fix is in.
