local kids go to uga/this is a terrible point
the point is it adds another SEC school in close proximity to Auburn, Bama and Georgia. A kid may be leaning Auburn because he would rather play in the SEC than the ACC, Ga Tech becoming an option may sway his decision...

I would like to see Kansas and Missoui if they are left out. The east could get Fla. St. and Miami.

I fail to see the problem here.

definitely adds to the academics
I think Georgia Tech belongs in the SEC regardless of how good their academics are. Florida State and Miami, too. All are premier programs in the southeast--shouldn't we add anything that is a "premier program in the southeast?"

Geographically speaking Georgia Techs location is a perfect fit for the SEC IMO. Not to mention it would restore some long lasting rivalries. I wouldn't mind if they joined personally.

exactly...saturate these areas while we keep Texas all to ourselves (SEC-wise)

one thing that would benefit the SEC by adding GT is preventing the Big 10 from adding GT and biting into the ATL market

Exactly. Keep the Big 10 or whatever merger of the ACC and Big East is likely to happen (which will be primarily an east coast / northeast market) out of our markets.
Like I said, addition by attrition.
