Any expansion that includes OU or Texas is a good thing IMO. I'd be very happy with Oklahoma and OSU is a solid addition too. I can't believe the Oklahoma schools would prefer Pac-12 to the SEC unless they want to stay with Texas schools.

probably perfectly balanced in terms of pod strength - i'm not sure ou, osu, arky, missouri would be pleased not to play in texas... but there really is only one texas and one florida school to have on your schedule for recruiting reasons

a pod system can keep permanent rivalries...

I tried to use geography and still keep as many traditional games as possible (OU/OSU, LSU/Ole Miss, UTe/UA, AU/UGA, UGA/Florida, Ole Miss/MS with the Iron Bowl 2 out of every 4 years). I think some new rivals will also be good like LSU/aTm and Ark/Mizzu. I went to every aTm game in Tiger Stadium during the 80's. Those games were great with a lot of passionate fans on both sides. No way I would ever split LSU and aTm up those games brings back a lot of memories.

yes, but for recruiting purposes i think there are 10-12 sec schools would might like A&M and florida on their schedule
not everyone could be a permanent rival

you really don't believe that...you know that OU and A&M, your two biggest rivals, going to the SEC without you would be extremely harmful to UT.
This.....and this may qualify for post of the month.

Every team at worst will play Florida and aTm 2 out of every 4 years. Can you imagine OU playing Florida 2 out of every 4 years. That could open Florida recruits up to OU.

I agree with you Chicken. your move would keep AU and Bama palying every year. Also AU, UGA, USCe, and UF in one pod is stupid crazy.

That pod definitely needs to put AU and Bama in one pod and split UK and Vandy. No way you give Bama and UT and easy pass like that and make UF AU UGA and USCe slug it out.
Posted on 9/20/11 at 8:14 pm to The ChizMan Cometh
You do know that UGA plays AU, UF and USCe every year. UF plays UGA and USCe every year. USCe plays UF and UGA every year. Are you scared of UF and USCe? Is UF and USCe better than Arkansas, LSU and Bama?
Posted on 9/20/11 at 8:23 pm to Born to be a Tiger
I do know that. I'm talking about the balance of the pods. Is it really fair that in order to win their division UF UGA AU and USCe have to battle each other for a "playoff" spot while bama and UT only have to beat each other and roll over Vandy and UK? The other 2 pods are pretty balanced, but BAMA UT KY and Vandy is a joke.

How about UT, UA, UK and USCe in one Pod and AU, UF, UGA and Vandy in another Pod. That keeps the AU/UGA, UF/UGA, Bama/UTe games intact with the Iron Bowl played 2 out of every 4 years.

Pac 12 presidents aren't taking Okie State without Texas. SEC feels Okie State is an improvement; different philosophy of schools.

Are we not still required by law to play each other every year? If that's the case, either we get put in the same pod as Bama or work it out with perma-rivalries/OCC game slots the other 2 years.
Posted on 9/20/11 at 8:46 pm to Born to be a Tiger
I have no problem with that other than there is no way in hell one side is going to give the other bragging rights for 2 straight years while the iron bowl isn't played. The millions of dollars in lost revenue it would cost the state not to play the game for 2 straight years isn't going to happen either.

So Bama, AU, UT and UGA with UF, UK, Vandy and USCe. With UGA playing UF in Jacksonville 2 out of 4 years.
If the Pods are not working then let's stay with the East/West divisions.
East Teams
AU
UGA
Bama
USCe
UK
UT
Vandy
UF
West Teams
LSU
MSU
Ole Miss
Arkansas
aTm
OSU
Mizzu
OU
The only problem with the East-West div is that it will take to long to rotate through the other half of the conference.
