Nowadays, service academies cannot compete day in and day out against BCS calibur schools for the most obvious reasons. It is what it is. Sorry if I offended any academy grad.

Conf USA isn't one of the six automatic qualifier conferences.

This is what the poster suggested as the new Big 12.

quote:

Big 12 East
Baylor
Houston
Iowa State
Missouri
Texas Christian
Tulsa

Big 12 West
Air Force
Boise State
Brigham Young
Kansas
Kansas State
Utah

This is not automatic bid worthy.

So replace them with UNLV, New Mexico, UTEP, SMU, or just about anybody.

Last four years:
CU/NU/OU/OSU/UT/A&M/TT vs BU/ISU/KU/KSU/Mizz: .724
AFA/BSU/BYU/UH/TCU/Tulsa/Utah vs BU/ISU/KU/KSU/Mizz: 1.000

I don't think the Big 12 survies. But if they do in that composition, I agree they wouldn't be automatic bid worthy.

Are you in the Navy at Yokohama?

Actually, it is.

My proposed Big 12 in the BCS standings:
2009: 4 TCU, 6 BSU, 14 BYU, 23 Utah
2008: 6 Utah, 9 BSU, 11 TCU, 16 BYU
2007: 6 Missouri, 8 Kansas, 17 BYU, 24 BSU
2006: 8 BSU, 20 BYU

What's the problem? If you say they can't compete with BCS teams, you're basically saying they can't beat Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri. Come on.

Current ACC (for comparison) in the BCS standings:
2009: 9 GT, 11 VT, 15 Miami
2008: 14 GT, 19 VT, 24 BC
2007: 3 VT, 14 BC, 15 Clemson, 20 Virginia
2006: 14 WF, 15 VT, 24 BC

My proposed Big 12 is better than the current ACC.

I was at Yokota in the early '70s, probably before you were born.

Probably the best two years I spent in the Air Force. Young, single, and the yen was 360 to the dollar.

Claiming that someone has a "good" program due to their record in Conference USA over the past few years doesnt exactly impress anybody.

Tell you what why dont we run down any of those teams schedules and give them a big 12 south schedule the likes of what we have had to face every season.

@Oklahoma State
Nebraska
Baylor
@Texas
Oklahoma
Texas Tech
@Texas A&M
Missouri
Plus OOC

...any of those teams you listed for the new Big 12 minus MAYBE TCU, you can go ahead and add at least 2-3 losses on each of their resumes a year, and thats probably being very generous. Heck even TCU imo would have at least 2 more losses last season with a schedule like this.

I like your thought process kind of on the new conference alignment, but the fact that the big 12 is going to be in better shape AFTER losing the entire big 12 south and Colorado and Nebraska? Thats just far fetched

Solid group but nobody up top really that impressive. Virginia Tech would beat the top team in this group 4 out of 5 times. I like VT, UNC, and Miami over your top 3.

Not going to happen. Kansas basketball to good for all those teams. And won't be left in a lackluster conference. They will move to the SEC.

Can't argue with that logic.

On the field, the conference I've proposed has been been better than the current Big 12 over the past four years.
