The construction would expand the stadium north of 100k, but I still don't think you see a change in the way tickets are allocated.

Using the Nebraska game last year as an example, there was plenty of demand for tickets yet we kept pushing student tickets

quote:

So far, 29,520 students have pulled tickets for Saturday night's ABC bout with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, which is an A&M record already.

The number of students attending the game is more than five schools' in the Big 12 total enrollment.

On top of allowing students with football and all sports passes to grab their usual tickets, athletic director Bill Byrne has allowed any student without those passes to purchase a ticket for $20. Needless to say, Kyle Field is going to be echoing through the night—the 12th Man will be ready.

Our student section is pretty sacred. We would likely add onto the stadium before ever downsizing our student allotment. It's a point of pride for us.

This.

I actually could see the move to the SEC driving the momentum for closing in the south endzone in order to respond to the demand for tickets

The student section won't change. They're going to add more seats soon, simple fix for SEC fans.

And FYI, student tickets don't make us lose that much money, because former students subsidize our cheap tickets

Maybe its just me but I always figured it would be a bad idea to put a student section next to an away section. Almost seems to be asking for trouble.

The Visitor Section on the student side starts at 147 through 149. Section 143-146 are non student season ticket holders. So there is some separation between students and visitors.

Also, do ramps "N1" and "N2" indicate "North? If so, should the chart/image be flipped?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The side shown with the "N" is the north side, the orientation is just off. The Zone, which is the closed in endzone, faces north.

I am not sure what you are saying when you say the zone "Faces North", but Yes the Zone is on the Northend of Kyle Field. The Picture should be flipped.

Demand for season tickets will be so high that the seating will bleed into the student section and therefore it will half as big.

On the plus side the extra revenue and demand will push for yall to finally add on to the stadium.

The only way I see this happening is if the students are not selling out their allotted seats EVERY game. It will be up to the students to keep it.

Right now they are talking about renovating the current east and west side which would actually reduce seats in order to create suites.

Here is A&M's AD's take on stadium expansion.
quote:

Q: Are there any plans to renovate/expand Kyle Field or any other facilities in the near future?

We’re spending 25 million right now to renovate the baseball field. We’ve recently had seven coach’s nights across Texas where renovation plans for Kyle Field have been presented. We’re also getting a new outdoor track. We have the best indoor track facilities in the world – not the country, the world. That’s why we host the NCAA championship every third year. The new outdoor track will be the best in the country and will host Olympic trials. The Regents passed football plans for Kyle Field last week. We’ll start on the one side at the end of the 2012 season and tear it down section by section. We’ll tear down the west side at end of the 2013 season and the second deck following the 2014 season.

Q: Will there be additional seating added during the renovation to Kyle Field?

A: We will not increase size of football stadium. It seats 90,000 now. There’s a good reason for not having an increase – in the sport of football there is declining attendance both in college and NFL and increase in television viewership. We don’t want to overbuild.

BIll Byrne Interview Article

It will be interesting to see if being in the SEC changes the outlook.

The aggies on here are right. there's no way they would reduce the student section, nor should they. i WAS part of an aggie family and know all too well how important that is to their game. It's pretty well respected, and should be.

now i'm going to go after admitting that.

I'm sure the student section for A&M is a huge advantage, but I think most Aggies will be shocked to see other student sections in the SEC. Not at the size, but the Aggie student section seems to be "good clean fun" with the rehearsed cheers and stuff. Well most SEC student sections are the exact opposite of that.

I know I won't be shocked because I have friends at SEC schools, specifically LSU, who have told me as much. The rehearsed yells aren't the only noise we make, we still have the constant noise during pre snap stuff. The videos from that Nebraska game show how loud that can be too. But I think most Aggies are fully aware of how rowdy SEC crowds are.

Yeah, most of us it will be a rude awakening. Tech fans are the closest thing we got SEC fans...

When SEC fans say that you'll eventually have to downsize your student section, it's because to keep up you'll need the extra revenue. It's happened to every SEC school, except probably Vandy.

More revenue equals more full price tickets and fans that purchase things at the stadium. That means taking away student seats. At LSU, they did this the second time by saying they were reducing the student section because they couldn't control themselves and thus were being punished.

Everyone knows it was because they wanted to sell more full price tickets and at LSU it was less than $10 per student ticket when I went there.

So we'll see if you guys can get where you need to be financially to keep up with your current arrangement.

I won't be shocked at all, and there is nothing wrong with letting it all hang out at games. The Texas and Tech games are pretty bad, Tech in particular. If you remember they tore down their goalposts and used them as battering rams into our visitor section a few years ago.

1BTF, that's part of the problem with A&M and what's kept us from reaching our potential, our "Old Army" mindset keeps us form making changes, even logical ones.

The A&M student section is comprised 30,000+ students standing and yelling their arse off the entire game. If an opposing fan in the visitor section wants to talk chit, they will get it right back.

What you seem to overlook is that the point of our student section is to keep Kyle Field loud to disrupt the opposing team's offense. You know, what they call a home field advantage. Maybe you should try this at UK sometime.

The only school I've seen worse than SEC (well LSU) is VT when we played them there a few years ago. They were just a huge bunch dicks and it didnt matter who we bumped into, they seemed like they all just had a bad case of the suck.

I hear WVU can be pretty bad, and a friend of mine from UT said that Ohio State was terrible a few years ago when they went up there. So you never know...

Yea. I'm sure our 71,000 drunk rednecks/hillbillies doesn't give us any kind of home field advantage.

One thing is for sure. Aggies haven't cheered after a game in January in a long fricking time.

I have heard WVU is the worst when at home. Tech is the worst I've experienced, including LSU, although LSU was at a neutral site so I imagine Baton Rouge is a much different experience. In Lubbock, they are fond of throwing D cell batteires.

Here's a breakdown from VT's ticket office. I have no idea when this was taken, but it looks like Georgia has a fairly high allotment, the highest in the SEC at 19% of their total capacity and 17,500 tickets.

Bowling Green leads the pack at 39% with A&M in 2nd at 36%.

Other SEC schools

Florida 25%/21,500
Arkansas 14%/10,000
LSU 16%/14,700
