i'm pulling for you guys. anyone with a functioning brain can see A&M belongs in the sec. the key is to put your money where your mouth is and follow through on the big talk. if that means withdrawing donations the athletic department is counting on, then so be it.

what if the SEC has pulled their offer? Certainly possible. In fact, I think it is highly likely that the SEC pulled their offer as soon as Texas re-committed to the Big XII.

Nothing would happen until we were sure the offer still stood.
This realignment thing will happen sooner or later because the b12 isn't going to survive. As soon as Mizzou gets a better offer they are gone and that will start the ball rolling again if it doesn't happen sooner.

If Aggie donors withdraw financial support in the amount that Texas is bribing them to play along, that might turn the tide.
When the normal A&M fan and alums stop sending in donations and buying tickets to the games is when they will have realized they made a huge mistake. I don't think the TV deal will come as advertised and who the hell wants to watch your favorite team play Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas St., Oklahoma St or a Mizzo when you can have a LSU, Arkansas, Bama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, or a Tennessee come to your house. And those schools will bring as many fans to the game as they are allowed tickets. Even playing Ole Miss, Mississippi St., South Carolina and Vandy would be 10 times more exciting to watch than all those yankee teams. I have not talked to one single Aggie fan that is happy about staying in the Big Whatever Conference. I like the SEC just the way it is but I have to admit, I really was liking the idea of getting to play Texas A&M every year.

No, that was an open offer and I'm sure Mike Slive understood the pressure the A&M folks were under. It's bad for business to burn a bridge, especially when it involves bringing in a team from Texas. I'm sure if A&M wants in after Texas screws them over we would make room for them. Slive would not act childish when it comes to making money and doing what is best for the SEC. Slive probably did not even get upset about it. What he did was stop Texas from forming a 16 team conference without thinking things through.

The key miss for the aTm leadership to me was the tremendous UPSIDE that could be realized by joining the SEC.
Sure, it's the most powerful CFB league, but look at the balance-4 different teams have won BCS NCs, & a 5th, the '04 Aub team deserved the shot that USuCk took.
Because of the difficulty in staying on top in the SEC, aTm had a much better chance of competing for, & ultimately winning, conference championships than trying to get past the big 2 in the B12.
Now that Texass has even more $$$ & power in the B12-2, that climb to get past them just got tougher.
Too bad, I was selfishly looking forward to resumption of the great LSU-aTm rivalry that goes back to the 19th century.
