The Southeastern Conference is like one big family if you really think about it. No other conference has that.

Yep, that article hits the nail on the head. Texass is looking for a cheap in to the BCS, like USC has had all these years. Pathetic.

A bit masturbatory, but...that is exactly how I like it.

Fantastic article...the Big 12-2 is a pathetic excuse for a conference - it's a conference built on convenience and short-term money (a house of cards).

Any other day I would be a die hard K-State fan, today I am a Texan. Thanks for saving the league, we realize we don’t have a lot of influence but we will work even harder to develop a team that will compete with anyone. Again, thank you!
Wow

Seriously, I’m glad it worked out for you, KU, MU, Iowa State and Baylor. At least this gives us all time to explore options at a reasonable pace.

Wow, looks like there was some Big 12 teams ranked way too high with that many upsets in their conference championship game. This does not surprise me though, Phil Steele has Oklahoma ranked #1 coming into the 2010 season. OU was ranked real high coming into the 2009 season until BYU put a boot up their arse. Seems like for whatever reason polls always got that Big 12 conference wrong with their rankings. Without looking it up, best I remember they were favored in a lot of bowls and lost them over the years. Well, with 10 teams, the Big Whatever can just play a round robin and settle it that way so there is no C.C.G. excuses. Personally, I look forward to our SEC Championship Game, especially when it's like the one we had last year where Bama and Florida had not played during the regular season.

I would take issue with this part...

quote:

only once has an SEC team gone to the SEC Championship Game still alive in the National Championship race, and lost.

That was us, of course, in 2001.

It might have been a longshot, requiring bowl losses by both Nebraska and Penn State, but 11-0, 3rd-ranked Alabama went into the 1994 SEC championship game with a shot at the national championship, and lost to Florida.

Does this hold true on gamedays? Are the fans cordial to one another or is it just a bad idea to travel for road games?

Tx. Tech and Colorado are some of the worst fans in the Big Fail but we actually had a very good relationship with Nebraska fans and texas generally shows respect.

How respectful are the fans when you travel on the road and who are the worst fans in the SEC?

most are good. some are great, a few bad apples ruin it of course. the bad apples tend to be worse than other bad apples

I would say LSU fans are the worst when you come to our stadium but you got to be able to take a little hell wherever you go. I've been to every other SEC venue and to me Auburn and Georgia gave me the most hell walking from the parking lot and into their stadiums. Florida messed with me some, so did the Vols, Bama does a little. You go to other teams turf you can expect a little hazing but I've never feared for my life nor do I expect other teams fans to pat me on the back and invite me to hang out with them. If anything, LSU fans dish it out right back at other teams fans and don't put up with a lot of shite when they travel and they roll up into a place like the own it. Seems like if you don't start no shite, there wont be any shite, but you still got to expect to at least get hazed on some by the other teams fans. That's what makes traveling to away games fun is being the enemy!

I hate this question because it is impossible to generalize. Each school has assholes and each school has fans that tailgate with you before and after the games.

I enjoy travelling to away games - I have been to see LSU play every team in the SEC except for South Carolina at their home and have had good and bad experiences at each place (and I have only been to Arky games in Little Rock because that's where the home games for Arky are in our series, so that may not really be a reflection of gameday in Fayetteville).

As an opposing fan you WILL get teased and taunted at every away stadium you visit. You just have to let the assholes be assholes and it won't take you long to find the "good" fans.

A lot of other schools will tell you LSU has the worst fans but just because I throw a piss bomb at you doesn't mean I don't like you.

Nothing better than throwing beer bottles at the other fans as they walk up. Maybe destroying their car? Depends on the bourbon and who we're talking about. I mean, if it's Vanderbilt we normally just make their women service us without beating them too bad with baseball bats. But if it's Bama... We're bringing extra alcohol just for the molotav cocktails.

In the article he says he was looking at 1996 an on. Sorry, 1994 is now ancient history...
