re: Why not Freeze

I led a not for profit youth football camp camp Elite prospect camp that featured him as a Coach. We cultivated a relationship there and have stayed close ever since. Speak once a week.

I hope for his own sake he's turned his life around, but if there was a list of 30 names, he wouldn't be on it.
I'm amazed that there's anyone, especially LSU fans, who don't understand this.

The Joe Alleva hire is a perfect example of why Freeze shouldn't be here. Alleva mismanaged a high profile sexual harassment case to the point where he never should have worked at a major university again. But the good ol boy network comes through, and not only does he get a job, its at one of the premier athletic institutions in the country. So now he's at LSU, and faced with ANOTHER sexual assault issue. This time its the head coach. Here's the problem: Do you think any person in their right mind trusted Allevas judgment on that? Hell, he didnt even trust himself. And after his prior experience, any decision he made was tailored towards saving his own arse, not looking out for LSU. Except now he's dragged LSU down with him, and we'll be dealing with the fallout for years.

And that's why we can't hire Freeze. It's not punitive, it's because people won't be able to trust him to make the right calls when it counts. This job is too big to take a chance on someone who has demonstrated major errors in judgement. Freeze simply isn't an option.

Nnnnnnoo. They got off light. What was it… 12 scholarships over a few years? Hell. Several teams have attrition that high.
