I ask because in all honesty I know very little about Jack Del Rio other than he was a good NFL player and seems to be an average NFL coach. I have read that some believe he will be high on the list of coaching candidates if Miles leaves. Some Tiger fans are very excited about the prospects of having him here? What are JDR's strengths, what would make him a great coach for LSU? Also, Del Rio has never done any college recruiting, what about that? I would appreciate any input on this question because I would really like to be better informed about any serious candidate for LSU if Miles does indeed leave. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I also don't understand some people's infatuation with Del Rio. Is it just because he is an NFL head coach with Louisiana ties?

2 He is similar to Pete Caroll in many respects(probably a better gameday coach)

Thanks for your response. I would love for more to weigh in on this. I know it is late and not as many people are on right now, but I hope more respond. Otherwise, I will suspect that it is all about a name and possibly because it would make LSU seem like a big deal to lure an NFL coach from a team he is having success with. In my opinion, if that really is all there is to it, that is not enough to make him the HC of LSU. Please anyone with information on Del Rio as a HC, respond.
