It was a dumbass hire for Nebraska. They get rid of Pelini who averaged a 9-4 record to hire a guy who was even more mediocre. They deserved it by getting rid of Pelini.

Riley ends up at a Mountain West school most likely.

Didn’t Pelini have several angry outbursts that got him in trouble, a la Bobby Knight?

Mike Riley was once offered the Bama job in 2002.

Oregon St. It was a mistake for him leaving for NU. He doesn't do well with programs that have high expectations.

Ya, and his brother didn't help when he nailed a boosters daughter in law. I'm sure that didn't help either.

I believe that to be accurate but I'm not certain on it. The rumor was Riley's wife made him turn the Bama job down but again, please don't hold me to that. It's all third and fourth hand information that I received.

Na, we we're all in on him, but he didn't want to coach with all the sanctions coming.

Well that's very unfortunate that one of Coach Bryant's boys said no sanctions or not. But I guess things worked out ok for us in the end.

Indeed, thus I will never say a bad word about Shula.

He took the job when no one else wanted it. I'll always love the guy.

He's a career .500 coach and is getting up there in years. I think he retires and lives comfortably for the remainder of his life.
