Damn sure happened at LSU. Bama is a different beast, though.

There are plenty of coaches who will jump at that chance

Why I'm not worried about replacing Saban:
- We learned that simply being "Alabama" won't win us a single game. We now know that we have pay for the best coach and give that person everything they need.
- Historically, Alabama was one of the blue bloods before Saban. We might not replicate this dynasty, but we'll have success again.
- Alabama is currently the top program in the nation and will continue to be there until Saban leaves. Plenty of coaches will love the opportunity to take that machine over.

Why I'm worried about replacing Saban:
- It took us over two decades to finally move on from Bryant.
- Saban's departure will leave a huge void of leadership. Plenty of hanger ons that used to have access will use it as a chance to get their grease paws back on the program.
- It takes a certain type of person to coach at Alabama. You have to have the political capital and strength to tell a lot of people how its going to be. You also have to deal with life in the fishbowl. Not many coaches can deal with that.
- Timing. It wouldn't matter if Alabama is the best job in all of sports if the timing of Saban's departure occurs when there aren't a lot of legitimate options.

Saban was his own worst enemy here

That may be, and he's a better coach now. That'll happen to anyone as they get more experienced in their profession. But he did have LSU poised to make a similar run to what Bama is having now. Those 2005-2007 LSU teams were classic Saban teams (not so much the Crowton offense though). After 2007, the personnel looked a little different.

Whoever replaces Saban will be held to the highest standards in coaching history. Winning 10 or 11 games every year won't cut it. Whoever that unfortunate person is will be looking for a job if Bama isn't immediately in the playoffs.

Apparently Nick Saban will have a huge hand in hiring his successor per BOL.

He wanted Houston Nutt to take over after he left LSU. I'm sure he'd be available to run the tide.

It will 100% be Dabo if he is offered the job.
