whats with henson coaching special teams?

It has been rumored for a while jrob was leaving but several people have alluded to henson taking over as special teams coach. I wonder about that, he hasnt done it before and i would think we could hire an experienced special teams coach especially since chavis is likely to coach a defensive position. I guess if we have 2 d-line coaches we couldnt have just a special teams coach.

I'm actually hoping Rob stays. He is a very good ST coach and I think we have improved under him in only one year. If he goes NFL, good for him, but I'd like him to stay if there's room.

TE coaches typically have the fewest individual players to coach, and all of their players tend to play special teams. It's probably the most natural second slot for a TE coach. I think the talk was concerning making Orgeron the RC for more money, possibly losing Joe Robinson to the NFL, and finding a way to keep Henson occupied.
Some teams (and LSU in the past) configure the staff with no separate TE coach, and give the responsibility to the WR coach (but TEs spend a bunch of time with the OL coach, too).
I know the RC gig is a big job, but I suspect that Henson, as TE coach, is the de facto assistant special teams coordinator.
