What is the incentive?

I don't understand schools paying coaches these huge numbers. Kelly obviously doesn't give a damn right now and why should he? If someone offered me millions guaranteed and it's not based on performance, why the hell would you put in max effort. They need to get a young up and comer, pay them modestly with large incentives for winning. Seems like the whole college landscape has it backwards right now. Or at least LSU's AD does.

I believe Kelly truly wanted to win a championship. He didn’t do so with Jayden Daniels and a championship seemed out of the picture. He seemed to care less and less after each loss.

The fully guaranteed thing is ridiculous and sets such a bad precedent. If you’re making $10,000,000/year to coach a kids’ game, you better fricking perform or not get your paycheck anymore going forward. Offering someone $100,000,000 guaranteed over 10 years then giving them the option to take a dive and get paid anyway is insanity
