A college coach can sign a contract to work for a new university while still coaching at their current one, but they must adhere to their existing contract's terms, including any notice periods, and may have to pay a "buyout". A new contract is often signed after a coach is hired away, with the new school paying the previous school a buyout fee

I think LSU says “Frick this soap opera shite!” and withdraws Kiffen offer pronto. Then goes for Sumrall or one of the other #2 options at a much less obscene package deal price tag. Then trusts in the vaunted LSU name to draw in all that talent waiting for us out there. Oh and lets the new coach do his thing and grow in the position
