AUBURN - Tommy Tuberville won't be Texas A&M's next head football coach. The Aggies are moving toward hiring Texas assistant and former NFL head coach Mike Sherman. If Tuberville was on their list of candidates, he no longer is.
That doesn't mean Tuberville, at the end of his ninth season at Auburn, won't have options. Houston Nutt's tenure at Arkansas is expected to end this week. Tuberville, an Arkansas native, is apparently high on the Razorbacks' wish list.
Tuberville is scheduled to meet with Auburn president Jay Gogue and athletic director Jay Jacobs on Monday. Jacobs will then make a recommendation to Gogue on any possible contract changes or commitments. If both sides are satisfied, Tuberville will remain at Auburn.
Regardless, it should all be over in a matter of days.

I thought beating us would give Nutt a reprieve.

Nutt personally feels its time for him to move on.

From everything I've heard, Nutt would not be fired, but will resign because he is tired of all the Days of Our Lives BS going on in Ar-Kansas (I bet having that team without McFadden or Monk next year has something to do with it also). I think he ends up at Ole Piss or aTm, possibly Cincinatti when Brian Kelly leaves. He could probably do well in a state that produces talent like Ohio.

but will resign
can't see HDN giving his two weeks notice. if he resigns he get's about 2 mil., if he stays and is axed it's closer to 4.5 mil.

Isn't that we he said after the Game. Les, give me at call when you get to Ann Arbor. I will come up and we can play golf.

i don't think Houston Dale is into golf...he likes to text-message and stuff.

I agree leaving Auburn for Arkansas would not be a step up.

TT has wanted the AR job in the past. I think we burned too many bridges with him though. We screwed up by hiring Nutt instead of TT in the first place.

well, that is out of the picture.

Currently, yes, BUT
Arkansas is a program for the future.
It is the only BCS conference school in the STATE.
It isn't second fiddle to another school in the STATE.
When recruiting, they can close the borders, and attack western Tennessee and Southern Missouri with little threat.
The only super-tough team they have to play is LSU, so they can schedule a Big-12 scrub every other year if they wanted. Why the Hogs don't have 9 wins every year is beyond me, and they almost do.

I don't think Nutt will leave on his own. He said it on the news last night. Arkansas is his dream job. Beating LSU is the biggest in his career. Not to mention if he leaves on his own he is out 4.5 million.

Tubby has a 6 million buyout. He isn't going anywhere.
