Let's say that the boosters win out and Saban comes back. While I think there are better choices out there, here are a couple things to ponder:

Alabama would have paid this guy 30 plus million dollars. He completely changed everything Bama's football operations did, put a completely different program in, had a top recruiting class possibly lined up.

Then he leaves Bama.

He leaves Bama in a total state of confusion and shock, in the process proving to just about everyone in the world that the old SEC icon is
now fully shattered, and in the process proving to everyone in the country what many have already said and that everyone already knows......

-- that not only is LSU simply the better program, and so are a lot of other programs in the SEC that are better than Bama.

Along the way, there will be comments floating everywhere in the country than even a Napoleopn like Saban could not handle Bama delusional administration, trustees, and fans....and that Bama is now an impossible job.

Coaches simply won't go there, knowing the ridulous competiton from in state Auburn, UT, UGA, coupled with the aforementioned delusional fan base that still thinks they have a birthright to be SEC champion and every coach should be fired within 3 years if they don't win one.

They lose the recruiting class, and the pressure will be on them BIG TIME to hire one of their own, and there only one that honestly can be considered right now. And this is where it may all fall apart for Bama. The media will now be jhounding them, and the trustees, the old racist fools, the redneck fan base will have to meet their maker: Yet another egg, a possible program destroying egg on their face looms if they don't hire Sylvester Croom.

The media will hire for him, and twist every racial angle they can. They'll state If they don't hire him not only is Bama proving to be delusuional, the media will then rip them to pieces and state the people in charge are racists, the same way they did last year, but
much, much MUCH more publically.

If there is one thing that is certain, it's this.
Saban leaving Bama will make immediately Bama the laughing stock of the SEC,and the nation, reguardless if LSU wins SEC titles and NC's again with Saban or not.

And Bama, like the Ole Misses, UCLAs, Michigan States, and Pittsburghs of days gone away, will then meet their cross road. The same one LSU met in 2000.

LSU survived and then exploded. Can Alabama?

Would Bama ever recover? In this day and age of college football, it depends on how you look at it. One thing I honestly believe: Based on the available talent, facilities, reputation, etc.,
when you currently think of the SEC over these last 10 years and the next 10 years you'll obviously think think LSU and UF, and UGA.

To a slightly lesser extent now, you think
Auburn and Tennessee. But one thing is sure---

You won't think Alabama. PERIOD.

The day is upon us. Welcome to the world of Ole Miss, Bama. And if it happens to the former icon of the SEC, they'll have no one else to blame but themselves.

I'll say it one more time:

LSU ain't Bama.
