Although I know that the athletic departments are completely separate from the academic side, there's this:
Texas A&M Endowment: $8,700,000,000
LSU Endowment: $692,000,000
SO, aTm is 12 times more "fine" financially than LSU.

A&M is good at pretty much everything except winning games; they have plenty of money to spend.
