I know that sounds totally stupid as hell, but AU has big money people who don't know shite about football.

The wave of rage againt Steele has caused a pause in this plan with the "search committee", but the battle rages on internally.

Where we go, I dont know, but things look better than they did two days ago for a non-Steele future.

My thoughts at this time, give me yours.

Steele 50%
Napier 30%
Cristobal 10%
Campbell 10%

Edit: I think Bill Clarks name may come in, if things go a certain way.

Steele is the right man at the right time for Auburn Football.

I haven’t been following super close, but why would they want to pay a guy $20+ mil to go away to hire Steele?

No clue, I'll let others chime in on that. In the meantime I will throw my full support behind Steele

Yeah most rant posters could make a better hire than this.

I think Napier would be a great hire honestly

Its very deep.

In short (in the minds of the money guys) Gus was a odd prick who didn't kiss arse and wasn't winning. So, they pay Gus off (guy they don't like) and raise up a guy they love in Steele. Dont have to pay him much and don't pay off the staff, since he will keep them in place. They think he will be better than Gus and change the culture.

Wrong

I totally agree. He is my #1 on the realistic wish list.

Campbell is my choice on the long shot list.

Not a fan of Cristobal, but better than Steele.

I just refuse to believe it’s Steele. Or at least that the plan was Steele. I have a hard believing they’re so out of touch that they’re “surprised” people would hate the hire. But I’m not rich enough to be involved in a coaching buyout/search so what do I know

He's really better off at a school where his recruiting prowess makes up more for in game coaching deficiencies.

I totally agree. Auburn should get top 10 classes with a lot of candidates.

Be patient, you won't have to wait too much longer. I have not heard anything in two days, though, so things may not be fluid. I am still standing by the Sark pick

I don’t know the inside pull for Steele, but I’ve always thought that it ends up being Napier or Freeze.

I don't understand why Sark isn't a bigger name for Auburn right now. Is it a Bama thing? Do they think Sark is too content in Tuscaloosa?
