Good question.
Balas posted that Brandon hired a search firm for the cause, trying to get the best coach possible. I'm sure that's the best way to gauge interest because usually the search firms don't talk to anyone.
Said Harbaugh has a deal waiting on him from Stanford worth 6 million/year.

Obviously two things can be happening here.
1) The top candidate is still coaching in either the NFL or college right now.
2) They are putting on a front of a search to appease the natives before hiring Hoke.
Either way we will probably know something early next week, if not I would be surprised.

Maybe they want to interview other people and find the coach that is best for the job. If I was them, I'd be interviewing at least a dozen coaches.
