So if O is coaching the bowl game...

I think this might have tipped Woody's hand a bit. It's likely he has a few guys he's close to, and we're all aware of the early signing day in early December.
Remember a few years back when O canned someone and had Austin Thomas recruiting in his place? There's a limit of 10 coaches that can recruit/coach. So, if Ed is still coaching in December, the new coach cannot be recruiting for LSU even if he's announced. This would put us at a major disadvantage if the coach was able to recruit...
I think this means Woody expects someone in the NFL or in the CFB Playoffs, otherwise this move would be self sabotage.

FSU played in a bowl game when they fired Taggert and Norvell was hired to recruit for ESD
