I am wondering whether we are looking at this coaching search the right way.

$3 billion ($300 mm per year) ESPN deal

quote:

Though terms were not disclosed, ESPN’s annual fee is expected to be in the low $300 million range, according to Sports Business Journal, a considerable and expected increase from the $55 million per year that the conference receives from CBS—a bargain deal that was struck in 1996.

We are about to enter into a new era of college football. With NIL and conference expansion, the money aspect is just going to be different all around. LSU is also the first major school to be in the market for a coach with this new economic reality. We also have an AD whose philosophy includes being a market leader on compensation.

Should this search be looked at in the lens of LSU being willing to offer the first $100 million contract in college sports history? That would change things.
