You don't fire the winningest head coach in LSU history to hire a position coach

You can't look at it like he's a singular position coach.
He's a position coach that will retain the best DB coach in the country.
He's a position coach that will retain one of the best young DCs in the country.
He's a position coach that will retain a staff that currently has ties to a top 5 recruiting class in the country.

You think Jimbo/Herman would want to replace Raymond/Aranda? I don't think any option being floated around would have a better choice at those two spots than what we currently have.

Why is it only about Herman or Jimbo? Herman is going to Texas, that's a done deal. Jimbo isn't going anywhere.
Kiffin nuked Tenn before flopping at USC, why in the hell is that guy even mentioned?
Fedora or Fleck should be the top options. The dilemma is telling ANY head coach they have to retain "x" number of assistants if they want the job. Considering the egos of most head coaches good luck with that.

Idk man, having to keep Raymond/Aranda doesn't seem all that unreasonable. It'd be like a company telling me I could have the job but I had to use the company car for business use. Which happens to be a 2017 Lambo... wouldn't be a tough pill to swallow IMO.

don't tell me what to do.

If I'm the guy heading the hiring I am going to tell the head coach which assistants are staying. No compromise.
But, some guys are just flat out unwilling to hear that. Saban, Meyer, Stoops, Kelley are guys that jump out as coaches who would not be told who they had to keep. Just saying, coaches egos can be a pain in the arse. I could see Jimbo, Whittingham, and Peterson having issues with that too.

I was no fan of Miles, but I'm with you on this. This Orgeron fan train is more of the provincial, small-minded, "let's go cheap" thinking.
Did someone in the administration resurrect Joe Dean?

I say the same, Aranda is the one that needs to be kept in the worst way.. Id give him a new contract now, 1.8-2mill a year with a massive buyout..
I wish O would stay, but it aint happening.. would keep Jaluke/Craig and Raymond.

I would do all those things too. But that doesn't mean I'm qualified to be head coach. Same with O.

If you're hiring who you think is a NC-caliber head coach, you don't then proceed to try to manage or place restrictions on him.
And this thread sucks in general.
