for an ASSISTANT coach.

Shouldn’t be a selling point for a HC.

HC should direct his salesmen on roster management & positions of need. What to look for & maybe where.

HC should know offense and defense at least enough to know what he wants out of a coordinator.

Ed’s selling point for HC was recruiting, and that’s this is the dumbest thing anyone ever fell for.

If the HC wants to hire a “recruiting coordinator”, why not? If he needs to hire a football management director... that’s what an AD does... hires a guy to manage the football program... aka a head coach.

A successful program recruits itself. We don’t need 9M a year for someone to make fricking house calls.

I’m done melting now.

The HC should be a master of almost everything that his staff does, he just delegates to free up his time to fry bigger fish. But, when push comes to shove, he can fry any size fish better. O is a master of very little, so he really can't diagnose and help correct many of the problems. It's just a bad setup.

I suppose my point is that you can compensate for a relative lack of facilitating ability if you have enough knowledge to hire a strong director.

But it’s a catastrophic problem if your HC’s “relative lack of facilitating ability” falls within the realm of the actual game of football.
