I'm watching a Louisville game from last year and I really hope Charlie Strong is one of our first calls. Great defensive mind, very good recruiter, prefers a pro style offense and is an Arkansas native. Its a perfect fit really if our longshots say no.

Tressel's not a bad name to consider, but the fanbase and money donors would never accept him.
Tressel has essentially been banned until 2017, and no major school will hire him after that.

Decreased the odds for Gruden. It's a pipe dream.
If Tennessee is hiring and Arkansas gets Gruden, I'll probably never watch college football again.

Has my vote. Excellent recruiter too. He could do damage at AR with new facilities, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tennessee is considering him, too. I would be a fan of the hire.

Depending on how the coaching carousel turns this year, there could be another big number of high profile jobs open up.
Who might be the best candidates to make the jump to the NFL?
I'd think Chip Kelly, Charlie Weis, Brady Hoke, would be the 3 most looked at.
I've kept Fitzgerald in the Legit tier because I too think the ceiling at N'western is close to being reached. I think he'd listen seriously to Arkansas.
I imagine Spurrier might be inching closer to retirement, Mack Brown will hang on at Texas for way longer than he should, I hope he does. Muschamp will be on really thin ice with another .500 season.
Most of the big schools seem locked down with their current coaches. So I think the NFL hiring a couple guys might be the tipping point. You'd have to say the premier coaching jobs available would be Arkansas and Tennessee if they get rid of Doolz.

I am down for the Charlie Strong hire. I watched a couple Louisville games on TV this past year. Also, check out his recruiting classes, 85% are from the state of Florida.

Isn't this whole thread a little presumptuous? From the way Arky fans are talking John L. Smith is going to rule the SEC this year

tGrandpa is gonna have the team loose and playing with nothing to lose. Their piss will be hot and the tears will flow from the opponents.
Still he's gonna have to pull a miracle to keep the job.

+1. Say what you want about the Big East, whatever, but to tie for a conference title in year 2 with shite for talent and a True Freshman QB under center is very impressive. He had zero talent on defense and he had the 11th ranked D in the Nation. When he has a good year in the L'ville he'll be gone with the Big East no longer a AQ conference.
And yea, he is a very good recruiter. Got 2 or 3 commits at the Army All-American game last year.

Charlie Strong is a no brainer but I imagine we'll screw it up and hire Skip Holtz instead.

Doesn't Boom have more of a grace period?

Tommy Tubberville/Houston Nutt all over again.
Two coaches with Arkansas ties and we take the lesser one. Its just what we do.
