I preface this without knowing all sordid details of negotiating!
As of right now it gives me a good feeling that he chose us over his alma mater. I was thinking how hard it would be were I in his shoes to do they same. No matter the record or position of the program as a grown man, It would be hard and almost impossible for me to not accept an offer at LSU if I were in his position.
LSU football and athletics have been a huge part of my life for the better part of 30 years and have lived and died with the players and coach's every saturday no matter who they were, if you wore the purple & gold I was pulling for you.
I don't know all of the details and maybe we find out that his decision was completley self serving but it makes me feel good knowing(or at least thinking) that we have a guy that has the same pride, passion and love for LSU as most of us do.

A lot of this is about LSU fan self-esteem, we didn't want to see another case of rejection. We can be back to wanting Miles run off if the team wins ugly or he loses a game in a heart beat, but at the moment not suffering rejection was what was important.
