This is nice in theory but wrong in practice. You always have more information about someone you hire that you know professionally. It’s really difficult to get honest assessment of someone from interviews / recommendations. You never hear the bad. Someone like Riley has enough accomplishments that it doesn’t matter, but in general it’s better to hire someone you liked working with before.
