Jimbo ship has sailed when he signed for pay increase and possibly large buyout last year. Herman is the best option right now.
I agree. he JUST signed an extension with FSU at the end of the 2014 season. Add to that the family/kid/divorce situation and I don't see jimbo leaving FSU.

Jimbo's contract was not altered in terms of pay/years at all at the end of 2015. He was extended in December 2014. Even after all the LSU rumors, the school didn't sweeten the pot last year...

That contract was signed in january of 2015, way before the Fisher to LSU talk...

LSU came after him at the end of the 2015 season, and they did nothing. Hopefully Jimbo sees that as a huge negative and wants to come to a better situation for him and his assistants.

jimbo is making 5.5 million a year. For LSU to get him, the money would have to be a lot more than that.

That's the thing that's often overlooked. Even after all the talk and back-channel negotiations, no new agreement was reached by Jimbo and FSU. It's a classic leverage play in coaching, but it didn't happen last year. It wasn't leverage for Jimbo, his interest was legit.

I believe this is wrong as well. He made 5 million last year with a 100k bonus in successive years, so 5.1 this year, and 5.2 next.
eta. LSU should and probably will be willing to pay Jimbo 6.5 and will thrown in the clause we made famous in the Saban years . . . if you win a natty, you're the highest paid coach in football. He'll listen.

I wouldn't think $6 or $6.5 is out of the question. Les was middle of the pack in the SEC, but his buyout was always favorable to him. I wouldn't flinch if they paid Jimbo or Herman $7, honestly. Anyone else, yeah..

Fisher will earn $5M as a base compensation in 2015, with a raise of $100K in each successive year, culminating with him earning a base of $5.7M in 2022. That makes him among the sport's highest paid coaches.
-Fisher's buyout will be $5M in 2016, $3M between 2017-18 and $1M before 2019.
-Fisher's bonuses include $100K for winning (ties included) the Atlantic Division, $100K for an ACC Championship, $100K for a CFB Playoff berth, $200K for reaching the National Championship Game, $200K for winning the National Championship, $100K if FSU plays in a non-playoff access bowl game, $50K for a bowl game not part of the CFB system, $200K for top-5 poll finish, $100K for a top-ten poll finish, $200K for an undefeated season, $75K for the AP National Coach of the Year, $50K for the ACC Coach of the Year, and $250K for other established university goals (see attached).
-Fisher secured a raise of $750K for his assistant coaches compensation pool.

I wonder if they'd wait until January 1 to "officially" hire him a la Chavis and A&M.

I guess you're trying to say he's making 5.5 after factoring incentives? Otherwise that proves what I posted. Usually when talking about coaching salaries people talk in terms of base. When we say 6.5 offer, that's not including incentives.

No way. In the event that we're lucky enough to get him here, we need him (and pretty sure he'd demand it) to recruit ASAP.
