I thought his capitulation about staying indicated a power/money play more than he was leaving. If he was leaving and was trying to hide it, he would have had a response ready.
Could be, and you may be right.
I ask this question; however, how can a guy who was on the hot seat a scant few weeks ago, and a guy who is rumored to have less than the full support of the AD, be in a position of leverage to pull this off? Les is known for his balls, but this would be one hell of a ballsy move.

My feeling is this: Miles knows that if he spurns his alma mater for the second time in 4 years, he'll likely never get another chance to coach there. I think he feels like it's now or never.
If I had guess at a percentage on it, I'd guess it's 80-20 he's gone.

All speculation.
Les is going to give Michigan THE COURTESY of a meeting, that is, he will agree to hear them out.
If I LOVED Michigan , but had no intention of moving (which is where I think Les is), I would do so, just not to burn bridges.
If I was very unhappy with Michigan for bypassing me for Dick Rod, I would give them the interview just to see how much they would offer and having the privilege to say, "no, thanks," in the kindest way. Again , no bridges burned.
Les has friends in Ann Arbor...

so bama didn't have a problem getting a coach, Florida didn't have a problem getting a coach, ND, Tennessee, etc.
I don't think the best coach in the country is just going to leave what he has and come to LSU, nor will the next 8 or 9. It isn't as easy to hire a coach as it used to be.

Les simply "interviewing" does nothing to help us. Quite the contrary, it further damages an image that has been dragged thru the mud nationally of late.
IMO all the details have been handled by the search firm. If he interviews, then he is hired.
