Now it looks like a place where coaches can go to spring to where they aspire.

It sounds bad but the recent scenario is much more enticing for coaching candidates than what we used to be.

Saban and Miles have the right to go where they want. And the fans***/recruiting/conference that we have is conducive to success.

***even though the fans (including me) may be part of the reason he leaves, combined with UM being his alma mater.
This program has had the best decade it has ever had, and can continue even without a big name coach.

If Les stays, good for him.
If Les leaves, good for him.

LSU isnt a stepping stone school.

The only reason we would even have a shot is because the man played for Bo Schembechler. I dont think you guys can ever appreciate what Bo means/meant to us, as I always see the various fan bases run on about "He never won bowls or NCs".

A school with a little stadium....that is a stepping stone place. When you have kick arse recruiting bed, large athletic budget, and a nice stadium....you are a big dog.

I dont know who will be your "Bo", but someone is going to come in, and make a long career at LSU. Maybe that is Les...or someone else.

Just because it hasnt happened yet, doesnt mean it isnt true.

good post.

and you're correct.

saban left LSU because his dream was to coach in the NFL, it took a stint there for him to realize his dream wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

miles' dream is to coach his alma mater.

if it wasn't he wouldn't be leaving us for a better job (i.e. if texas usc, florida etc opened up and were interested.) and technically he's not leaving us for a better job if he does go. past prestige aside, the LSU job is a more attractive one right now than UM.
