Les Proving to Be Good Administrator

I've never thought much of LM as a king type coach that handled every detail like $$$$'s. But that's also not necessary. Either type can be successfull. He is however proving to be a good administrator in the areas of good hires (excepting of course Peveto) and recruiting. If his ego (and I don't know him personally) allows him to allow his coordinators to coach the X&O aspects then he will continue to be successful.

As for last year's hires, he was probably thinking:

a. there's no one available that was on the same stature level as Pelini
b. RP is coming back and will be one of the top qb's in the conference so the offense is set
c. if we can simply continue Pelini's defense at near the same level, w/ our offense we have a shot to repeat
d. don't rock the boat too much coming off MNC

The logic was solid but the decision turned out to be a poor one. It has been rectified. Now we'll see what the results are.

W/ the recruiting class they are about to sign, the future looks bright, and I'm confident that LM will not make a hiring blunder similar to Peveto again. He seems to have already righted that particular ship.

Also, the other major issue of team respect/discipline was apparently being addressed if the post season practice reports were accurate. Furthermore the new D staff will certainly command the respect of the players.


So administratively, LM seems to have identified the problems and has implemented a solution plan. IMHO I beleive the plan will work and that LSU is likely a top 5 contender next year.
