Johnny Jones was the easy hire. Ed Orgeron was the easy hire. Go to Houston and fight for the next great coach, attempt to change his mind? Nope. Let's settle for the guy I know will take the job.
Alleva isn't ready for primetime. I can't wait until he's back at a school like Duke where he can handle the stakes.

Sometimes you have to go to your 3rd/4th choice, that's how it works. But Alleva was planning on hiring O for a long time and wasn't truly committed to Herman, as you can see by the quick trigger to name O this morning
