Our best option is to keep coach O and hire a good OC. I don't care what the know it all's say.

There are caveats. He obviously needs to finish VERY strong. We have a great recruiting staff and have the potential to beef it up even more with a great finish. If he has commitments from them to stay on (again, assuming a great finish), this puts him ahead of some of the riskier candidates lower down the board.

Let's be honest, do we want to bring in a younger Group of 6 guy other than Herman and have to start over with a completely new staff? I think O should get a shot before anyone who isn't established on a P5 level other than Herman, who has proved that he can beat good P5 teams. I wouldn't even give Gundy, Briles, or Petrino a SNIFF ahead of a 9-3 finsh O with a great staff already inked and another top class in the bag.

I like the changes ED O has implemented. It also appears the man has learned from ole miss, not just him saying he learned.

we know he can recruit, he built the nutt back to back cotton bowls. He has changed the practice in a week to a smart manner. I think 6-2 and if Herman says no then its going to be tough to not give coach o the job.

if he goes 7-1 or say 8-0 putting us into the sec title game then i don't see anyway we can part ways with him.

if he is 6-2 and was to get the job I'm going to assume that he lures LK down here. I'm sure its been discussed with him what ideas he has to continue to make us great.

I think its something like this tier 1: Herman, Petrino and Jimbo who is getting shaky considering his record lately.

then Tier 2: I think with a decent showing O becomes the top. its going to be awfully hard to say a coach with glaring flaws should get it over O who is really pushing every button he can. then you have guys like Fedora and what not.

It appears O has an idea of how to campaign to become head coach: current players love him, former players now love him, the media is on his train. I think his next step is the big money boosters, he gets them with wins.

O clearly had a plan considering the moves we made on bloody sunday. Les fired, O fires Cam and brings pete in and demotes BDP. Also our themed days all of last week and having a former tiger up on deck to speak to the team.

The last time LSU hired an assistant that was loved by the players, look what happened. We need to go head to head with Texas and throw the kitchen sink at herman. They may have more money, but LSU is the better program right now.

completely different situation. Archer was young and had never been a head coach.

ED O is much older, has already been head coach and interm coach. He clearly learned from his stint as head coach what changes he had to make.

So it is incorrect to just rule him out right away.

I think its already in place with him as far as if he gets the job. The D staff stays in place minus Jenkins who probably finds a new part time home in the football ops building as a staff guy and Aranda would go get him a dline coach.

Then he probably has a list of OC in place with Lane Kiffin being the top man on that list.

For all of you lurking down voters, hitting the full reset buttons at USC and UGA is working out great, right. Oh wait....not so much. There is something to be said for retaining stability in a program that has been just a little bit short the last few years, rather than blowing everything up for someone who isn't a sure fire upgrade. Right now, Herman, Fisher (maybe), and Peterson are the ONLY sure-fire looking upgrades. Put guys like Fedora and Wittingham in that nest group, but they aren't sure fire. If you want Bobby P, go frick yourself. He has torched every program he has been at other than WKU, and that's only because he wasn't there long enough. He is a cancer and will NEVER win a title. Ever. Anywhere. frick him and frick you harder for wanting such a classless clown. Skip was right to toss his arse out in 05, and he has no business at a real school. He is perfect at Loserville.

For all of you bitching about canning Miles "only to end up with a D Line coach"- I love the man and supported him for years, but HE BROUGHT HIS FIRING ON HIMSELF, and it had nothing to do with whoever comes next. He had a get out of jail free card. All he had to do was get a better OC and loosen up, but he wouldn't. The powers that be didn't fire Miles because to get a particular coach. They fired him because he was given ultimatums at the end of last year, and didn't fulfill those commitments. That's the end of that. He had to be fired for his inability to change, before he ran the program down like Fullmer and Mack Brown were alllwed to do.
