Impact of New Staff

The more I have thought about the guys we are bringing in and the guys we have ties to for the remaining empty spots... it has caused me to reflect on the past staffs we had.

Honestly, looking at the previous staffs we really weren't that loaded OVERALL.

Good:

Karl Dunbar
Jimbo (don't quibble)
Pelini
Crowton


That leaves one good positional coach and 3 good coordinators. The rest were all marginal guys that we possibly thought were better than they actually were.

NOW we are bringing in:

A) An incredibly established and respected DL coach who can recruit the hell out of Jesus Christ himself if he wanted.
B) An incredibly established and proven successful DC (again, don't quibble).
C) If we were to pull Tony Hughes for DB coach... we'd have another ace recruiter who is also thought to be a fantastic coach.

I feel like our lack of having a really quality staff may have hurt us the last couple of years. While some of them were solid in areas and not so solid in other areas... the guys we are bringing in are considerable upgrades.

I think that, more than anything, could be what keeps us at the top of the football world... we now have a staff of guys we know will prepare our guys the best, coach them up the best... not just recruit em and let em go.
