Immediately after the UK loss, my first thought was

Napier is an obvious candidate.
...Then we have a couple weeks of flashy names & arguments about G5 —> P5 HCs... Proximity to Baton Rouge... Folks insisting he’s a fallback plan...
And I admit I start to think, “This it’s too obvious. Maybe that was a dumb, knee-jerk thought.”
But stepping back from the rumor mill, I find myself coming back around to where I started.
Given LSU has been a QB away from being the best team in college football at least 10 out of the last 20 years... I really like the idea of LSU having consistently high-level QB play.
Riley is the first name that comes to mind, but what has he really accomplished? Is being a defense away from a natty for 10 straight years going to be any less frustrating?
Can Napier develop QBs?
Outside of Saban, how many NC HCs have gone and won a NC at another school? Urban Meyer? Where did both of those cats get their start again?
You already know the answers to all of these questions. So screw it. I like Napier’s approach. I like him as an ambassador of LSU.
Comes off hungry but focused & grounded... Actually blocks out noise instead of talking about doing it. I’m starting to think all the other smoke was always just smoke. Calling my shot here & leaving it.
I shall embrace your downvotes.

Yes. He played QB himself. Coached QBs at almost every stop he’s been at.

Just wanted to answer that rhetorical question for our viewing audience

Answer Key:
1. What has Riley accomplished at OU? Nothing in the post-season.
2. Can Napier develop QBs?
Yes
3. Where did Saban & Meyer get their starts?
G5
Disclaimer: I would not be disappointed in the least with Riley. There are really only a couple of candidates I think could turn out a bad fit (possibly Frankin, Dabo).
