who supposedly still has a friendly relationship with CEO and he recommended Richard, that would be one of the best endorsements you could get for a DC. CEO has no reason to do anything as a knee-jerk to Aranda leaving. He knew Aranda was soon gone, even before the season started. I think when Richard came open and Aranda left, Ed's whole calculus changed. This is a tremendous fit and this guy is obviously a high-level defensive mind. I hope we do this deal!

I could be wrong, but isn't the latest word/buzz that Richard is staying in the NFL?

Yeah I just read that he interviewed for Vikings gig. Half the folks on here don't think he has the cred to get our D.C. job, meanwhile the NFL is still after him!

I talk the man up, but let’s be honest. Mistakes have been made, man. I think it was Sark to USC when he left. Kiffin is a fricking monster and sits in his coaching tree. He makes mistakes, too.
But KR has been his protege for years and he wants both Coach O and KR to succeed. I trust him.

No doubt Carroll wants them both to do well or at least that's the way it seems. If its true that Minn/SF are looking at him as a DB coach, we are probably still in the mix.

We should look at options that aren't likely to look to jump to the NFL soon.
