Hey Les Miles, you can stop all this nonsense now!

All you have to say is a definitive "I'm staying at LSU". ps: why would he tell the team he was not contacted?....why bring it up if he is commited to LSU?

maybe he feels they deserve some communication on this.... him saying "i havent been contacted" repeatedly is what actually has me concerned.

The best point for not saying anything is to have some leverage with LSU officials. Gordy and Charlie said last night that Miles contract was not rolled over after either of the last two seasons, even though his contract states that LSU could roll it over after 8 win seasons. This is Les Miles last shot at having some bargaining chips at the negotiation table. (You gotta think like an agent)

My also be LSU's last chance to let Miles go.

Right.
And all these college football players, who were wrapped up in an emotional win who say they heard him say he's staying in a post-game speech is not worth much. God knows how things can be misinterpreted.
"I'm committed to this team." "I've not been contacted." "I plan to be the coach of this strong team next year." .... all are not dispositive.
"I've not been contacted, and it doesnt matter, because if/when they call I will polietly tell them I'm not interested in anything other than building this LSU dynasty. Have a nice day." ... now that is a definitive statement I've not seen yet. Has anyone?

Yeah who would want a record like that.

The old "Ive not been contacted" rountine can be misconstrued....maybe his agent has been though! So he is telling the truth and maybe not all the truth? Remember that all coaches in major programs have their agents filter things and handle contracts and money. Im not saying Les's agent has been contacted...just merely trying to point out that he could be telling the truth and yet not revealing things. I hope he stays at LSU...he is good for SEC football and is colorful.

It wont stop until UM hires someone. It would be stupid for Les not to see what they have to offer. Tell me a job where someone wouldnt listen to offers especially if it means "going home". That being said I think he stays because of the talent here and coming here and the fact that UM will take a few years to overhaul. Of course if he goes there and is fired after 3-4 years he will have more money than he could spend and say see ya.

Why would LSU want to do a stupid thing like that?

Damn Strong Football Team Speech #2?
Posted on 1/8/11 at 9:17 am to Newgene
because this time he is willing to at least listen to what michigan has to say.
the same courtesy you would expect from a LSU alum coaching somewhere else if LSU came a calling.

This is kind of what I'm thinking.
These are 18-22 year old kids we're talking about. This was a big win and exciting moment for them. If Miles was as vague with them as he's been w/ everybody else, then he may have just said something to them that sounded kind of like what they wanted to hear.

yeah all i've heard him say is "i love it here" and "i haven't been contacted" which is a lot different from "i'm not leaving" or you know "i don't know how many times i have to say it, i'm not gonna be the coach at alabama"

There would go his leverage for a contract extension
