I understand that I’m gonna get slammed after this post, but try and use some common sense in this situation. Notre Dame, per the way the playoff structured and how teams get in, is all but guaranteed a spot in the playoffs every single year. As an at large team, which there are very few of, they have the best path based on their name brand and recognition. The media will always slate them high ranked early on and the selection committee is full of people who don’t know better and see the name and not the substance.

Couple all of the above things with ND allowing better athletes in recently and you get a formula for a solid coach and you have a formula for the playoffs and no really reason to leave. Freeman is a very solid coach(and I say that having first hand experience seeing him in action…). He could be a good coach here I think, but there’s no reason for him to want to leave.

I’d love to have him here based on what I’ve seen in person on the field and on Saturdays watching what they produce generally, but it’s probably not happening because logistically he has an easier path with probably equal money, and arguably the most recognized brand in football, right where he is.

Geaux Tigers!

You make a good point that Freeman has an easier path to the Playoffs at Notre Dame than he would at LSU. And you're correct that Notre Dame has relaxed its standards for admission, thereby allowing Freeman access to greater talent.

Don't assume that will be like that for long. One thing that we know is that the SEC and Big 10 are moving things in a direction where everyone will be playing by their rules. ND is going to have to play a real schedule and join a conference or get left behind.

And who exactly is gonna make them do that? They are the richest university in the country simply by their affiliation with the Catholic Church. Not to mention, they have probably the richest alumni base on the planet. They have their own TV contract with NBC that’s NEVER going to go away! They played by their own rules and that’s not gonna change despite what everyone “wants“
