I think he will do very well at UT. Strong had some good classes the past 2 seasons who will be ready to go. Too bad Foreman decided to go pro, him in that Offense wouldve been interesting.

I think he's going to do very well also. He isn't coming into a situation to rebuild. Charlie didn't hurt their immediate future.

Strong had the team on the upswing from where they were. Many said Herman was a "Urban Meyer type hire" so ofcourse him being available with roots at UT already forced their hand to move on.

What about his handshake deal with Alleva?
He never intended to come to LSU. He always had his eye on Texas, which is why he had his agent leak that info to Texas boosters even before Alleva had left the parking lot.

It'll actually be a little easier. Texas is still a bigger brand despite their recent performance. It all boils down to strength of schedule and for an offensive minded coach, the SEC west is a nightmare compared to the BIG10

Herman told Tilman Fertitta and the UH president that there was no way he was leaving. 72 hours later he was in Austin. He told his players on Black Friday he wasn't leaving - he met with UT that night.
He's a self-promotion king and is willing to tell any audience what they want to hear. He's also thin-skinned. Austin and a national media will eat him up if he doesn't dominate from day 1.

Its called job security/path of least resistance. Why go to the SEC West and have your livelihood determined by going up against the best every yr when you can go the route of urban Meyer and go to the biggest dog in another conf and build your team, only time youll see Saban is in the playoffs? Same with guys like Jimbo, he knows he beats Clemson and wins the ACC he's in good shape for the playoffs.
well in that case the Big 12 and Pac 12 is calling all coaches.. Washington is about all there is west of the Mississippi..
Big 10 has Harbough/Meyer/Franklin
ACC (which aint bad now) has Fla St/Clemson/Louisville/NC
and the SEC, well good luck there anyone can kick your arse on any given saturday..
hell it I was a coach, id head west.. All you have to go against is Peterson now..
